Authors and Contributors

Information submitted by authors and contributors is used to administer manuscript submission, editorial assessment, peer review, production, publication, indexing, and preservation of the scholarly record. Information that is required for publication, such as author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers where provided, author contributions, funding disclosures, and competing-interest declarations, may be published as part of the article record where appropriate and in accordance with the journal's publication policies.

Reviewer Confidentiality

Reviewer identities and personal information are treated as confidential in accordance with the journal's double-anonymous peer-review policy. Reviewer information will not ordinarily be disclosed to authors or other unauthorized persons during or after the review process unless disclosure is required by law, necessary for legitimate editorial purposes, or otherwise permitted under the journal's applicable policies.

Review reports and editorial correspondence are confidential scholarly records. Reviewers must not disclose manuscripts, unpublished findings, confidential correspondence, or other information obtained through the review process. JAIMS will take reasonable measures to protect reviewer information from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Editors and Editorial Board Members

Personal and professional information relating to editors and editorial board members may be processed for editorial administration, communication, conflict-of-interest management, peer-review assignments, and maintenance of the journal's public editorial records. Names, institutional affiliations, professional positions, and scholarly identifiers may be displayed publicly where necessary for editorial transparency.

Confidentiality of Manuscripts and Editorial Records

Manuscripts submitted to JAIMS, including unpublished data, supplementary materials, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and other confidential submission information, are treated as confidential editorial material. Access is restricted to individuals who require the information for legitimate editorial, peer-review, production, technical, administrative, ethical, or legal purposes. JAIMS does not permit confidential manuscript material to be used for purposes unrelated to the editorial evaluation or publication process.

Disclosure and Third-Party Processing

JAIMS does not sell, rent, or trade personal information for commercial marketing purposes. Personal information may be shared only where reasonably necessary for legitimate journal operations, such as manuscript submission and hosting, publishing production, DOI registration, indexing and abstracting, digital preservation, website security, technical support, or other essential publishing services.

Where external service providers process personal information on behalf of the journal, the journal seeks to use providers that apply appropriate safeguards and process information only for authorized purposes. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law, court order, regulatory requirement, or legitimate investigation of suspected misconduct, fraud, security incidents, or other unlawful activity.

Publicly Available Information

Scholarly information that forms part of the published academic record is generally intended to remain publicly accessible. This may include author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers where provided, article titles, abstracts, keywords, funding disclosures, conflict-of-interest statements, author contributions, dates of submission and acceptance where published, and other information required for bibliographic and scholarly transparency. Published information may also be distributed through indexing, abstracting, citation, repository, and digital preservation services.

Data Security

JAIMS takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, misuse, or destruction. Security measures may include access controls, authentication mechanisms, restricted administrative access, secure transmission technologies, server security, backups, monitoring, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the journal's publishing infrastructure. However, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Cookies and Technical Information

The JAIMS website and online publishing system may use cookies, session technologies, server logs, and similar technical mechanisms required for authentication, security, functionality, performance, and website administration. Technical information may be collected automatically when users access the website. Where optional analytics or non-essential technologies are used, JAIMS will seek to provide appropriate information and choices in accordance with applicable requirements.

Artificial Intelligence and Automated Systems

JAIMS may use automated or artificial intelligence-assisted systems for limited administrative, technical, security, metadata, language, or publishing-support functions where appropriate. Confidential manuscripts, peer-review reports, and unpublished editorial material will not be submitted to external generative AI systems for unauthorized processing. Any permitted use of automated systems remains subject to appropriate confidentiality safeguards, human oversight, verification, and the journal's publication ethics requirements.

Data Retention

JAIMS retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, maintain accurate editorial and publication records, preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, resolve disputes or misconduct matters, comply with legal or ethical obligations, and maintain appropriate backups and archival records. Because scholarly publication records may need to be preserved permanently, certain information associated with published articles may remain part of the permanent scholarly record even when a user account is closed.

Privacy Requests and Individual Rights

Subject to applicable law and legitimate scholarly-record requirements, individuals may request information about the personal data held about them and may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information. Depending on the applicable legal framework, individuals may also have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, or withdrawal of consent where consent is the relevant legal basis.

Requests should be submitted to the journal's editorial office using the official contact information provided on the JAIMS website. JAIMS may need to verify the identity of the requester before processing a privacy request. Requests may be limited where compliance would conflict with legal obligations, confidentiality requirements, protection of another person's rights, prevention of misconduct, or preservation of the integrity of the scholarly record.

Information Concerning Research Participants

JAIMS may publish research involving children or other vulnerable populations where such research has received appropriate ethical approval and complies with applicable requirements for informed consent, assent, confidentiality, and protection of participants. Personal identifying information about research participants should not be submitted or published unless disclosure is ethically and legally justified and appropriate consent has been obtained.

External Websites and Services

The JAIMS website may contain links to external websites, repositories, indexing services, scholarly identifiers, publishing platforms, or other third-party resources. JAIMS is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, or data-processing activities of external websites. Users should review the privacy policies of third-party services before providing personal information through those services.

Changes to This Privacy Statement

JAIMS may update this Privacy Statement when necessary to reflect changes in the journal's publishing practices, technology, applicable legal requirements, or privacy and security standards. The current version will be made available on the journal website. Where a material change significantly affects the processing of personal information, the journal will take reasonable steps to provide appropriate notice.
