Copyright and Publishing Rights

JOURNAL OF AI-INTEGRATED MEDICAL SCIENCES

Copyright Ownership

The Journal of AI-Integrated Medical Sciences (JAIMS) recognizes the authors, or their employing institution where applicable under the authors' institutional arrangements, as the initial copyright holder of the original scholarly work submitted for publication. JAIMS does not require authors to transfer copyright ownership to the journal as a condition of publication.

Authors retain copyright in their published work subject to the applicable terms of the open-access license and the non-exclusive publishing rights granted to JAIMS for the purposes of scholarly publication, dissemination, preservation, indexing, and archiving.

Publishing Rights Granted to JAIMS

Upon acceptance and publication, the author grants JAIMS a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, communicate, display, index, archive, and preserve the published work in electronic and other scholarly formats reasonably necessary for the operation and dissemination of the journal.

This publishing permission enables JAIMS to publish the article as part of the scholarly record and to make the work available through its website, repositories, indexing services, metadata systems, preservation services, and other legitimate scholarly communication channels.

Rights Framework
01
Author Retains Copyright
Copyright is not transferred to JAIMS.
02
Non-Exclusive Publishing Rights
JAIMS receives the rights necessary to publish and disseminate the work.
03
Open Scholarly Reuse
Reuse is governed by the article's stated open-access license.

Open Access and Licensing

JAIMS publishes scholarly content under an open-access licensing framework. The specific Creative Commons license applicable to each published article is identified clearly on the article's publication page and within the published full-text version, including the PDF where applicable.

The applicable license governs how readers and other users may access, reuse, reproduce, distribute, and otherwise use the published work. Neither JAIMS nor any supplementary publishing agreement shall impose contractual restrictions that conflict with the rights granted by the applicable open-access license.

Author Rights

Authors Retain Their Scholarly Rights

Subject to the terms of the applicable open-access license and any rights belonging to third parties, authors retain the right to use, share, deposit, reproduce, and otherwise make lawful use of their work. Authors may also identify their published article as the version of record and may provide links to the official JAIMS publication whenever appropriate.

Right of First Publication

Authors grant JAIMS the right of first publication of the accepted manuscript in its final published form. This right is non-exclusive and does not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership. It permits JAIMS to establish and maintain the journal's official version of record while preserving the author's underlying copyright ownership.

Repository and Scholarly Sharing

Authors may deposit and share their work through institutional repositories, subject repositories, research platforms, personal academic webpages, and other lawful scholarly communication channels, subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license and any third-party rights contained within the work. Authors are encouraged to retain the bibliographic citation and persistent identifier of the official JAIMS publication when sharing their work.

Third-Party Copyright and Permissions

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights, permissions, licenses, or other lawful authority to use third-party material incorporated into their submissions. Third-party material may include photographs, illustrations, figures, tables, datasets, substantial textual excerpts, software, instruments, or other protected content.

Material that is not covered by the article's open-access license must be identified appropriately in the article, together with relevant attribution, licensing information, permission statements, or other applicable notices. Such material remains subject to the rights and conditions of its respective copyright holder.

Author Representations

By submitting a manuscript to JAIMS, the submitting author represents, on behalf of all authors where authorized to do so, that the authors have the necessary rights to submit the work for consideration and to grant the publishing rights required under this policy.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted work does not knowingly infringe the copyright, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other legally protected rights of any third party. Where material is subject to restrictions, authors must obtain and document appropriate permission before publication.

Prior Publication and Duplicate Rights

Authors must disclose any prior publication, publication agreement, license, preprint, repository deposit, or other dissemination arrangement that may affect the copyright or publishing rights associated with the submitted work. Submission to JAIMS must not knowingly violate an existing copyright assignment, exclusive publishing agreement, or other binding contractual obligation.

Rights of the Journal and Publisher

JAIMS retains the operational rights necessary to publish and maintain the journal's scholarly record, including the right to format, typeset, host, archive, index, preserve, and disseminate the published version of record.

These rights are granted for legitimate publishing and scholarly communication purposes and do not transfer ownership of the underlying copyright from the author to JAIMS.

Corrections, Retractions, and the Scholarly Record

Retention of copyright by authors does not prevent JAIMS from correcting, updating, retracting, or otherwise maintaining the integrity of the published scholarly record in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and applicable publication-ethics standards. Where a published article requires correction, retraction, or other post-publication action, JAIMS will maintain an appropriate record of the action and preserve the integrity of the publication history.

Copyright Notice

Author-Retained Copyright

Copyright in each published article remains with the author(s) or other identified copyright holder. JAIMS receives the non-exclusive publishing rights necessary to publish, disseminate, preserve, and maintain the article as part of the journal's scholarly record. The applicable open-access license governs permitted reuse of the published work.

Transparency of Copyright and Licensing

JAIMS publishes its copyright and licensing terms openly on the journal website. The applicable copyright holder and licensing information are also identified with the published article and, where applicable, within the HTML and PDF versions of the full text. Copyright and licensing information applies specifically to the published scholarly work and is distinct from copyright in the JAIMS website, platform, branding, or other publisher-owned materials.

JAIMS Copyright Principle

Protect Authorship. Enable Open Scholarship.

JAIMS recognizes authorship and intellectual ownership while supporting broad and responsible dissemination of medical research. The journal therefore follows an author-retained copyright model in which publication rights are granted to JAIMS on a non-exclusive basis and reuse of published articles is governed by the applicable open-access license.
